Why has he not spoken out when the people involved are close to home? All this talk about McCain's integrity is totally overblown. He is a politician above all and , regrettably, like most Republicans (and Democrats), he posesses absolutely no vision for America or the world in the 21st Century. There is nothing new here…only a re-hash of what is obsolete and in fact dangerous. Worst of all, his nomination is a reflection of the current state of thought of a large percentage of Americans. .

Only digital TV will do in a year
Thousands more will have to buy some new gear or lose the use of spare televisions in guest bedrooms, kitchens and dens.
And those battery-operated televisions people buy for hurricane emergencies. Forget about them. Theyll be useless.
The Federal Communications Commission demands that local television affiliates must broadcast only digital signals by Feb. 17, 2009, so the analog signals previously captured by set-top antennas will no longer be available for TV.
The move, the feds say, will free up space for public safety communications such as those by police and fire departments. Some of the available space also will be auctioned to wireless companies that will be able to provide consumers with more advanced services.
People who subscribe to cable or satellite programming wont be affected, at least on those televisions connected to cable boxes or satellite receivers.

Now that Barry's gone, I also think he can be the elder statesman/team leader he clearly craves to be. Ed hit on the first useful talent evaluation I've seen here in a while: Chris Duncan. Jones may be worth a flyer if he's at 10 mill or less and Arod is worth it but I think it's a done deal with him and LA. I've listed these guys before: Juan Rivera, Nick Johnson, Rocco Baldelli ; all off injuries, aged 28-30, and trade value is at an all-time low.

Courtney Love has spread a little of her own recently. Specifically within the younger men department. Courtney being Courtney, she's not mincing her words. In a rambling yet highly entertaining MySpace blog, the 43-year-old rock star spilled all on her wandering eye, and the fellas it tends to attract. First in the lusty firing line is 29-year-old acting talent Josh Hartnett. "Josh Hartnett is really kinda cute in real life - way more than I ever thought when I saw him out before and very, very nice," Court wrote. Next up is Scot screen boy James McAvoy, aged a tender 28 years. "Who the f*** wouldn't swoon over that kid! Wow!" Courtney enthused in an extract that's bound to have James blushing.

Gearing up for spring? Some fish are already biting
The calendar is inching toward that day when the weather and opportunity come together for the first fishing trip of 2008. In the meantime, we sort through the news bits that have crossed my desk in recent days. Here's something interesting. The saugers are reported to be biting down on the Ohio River. Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife communications officer Jamey Graham e-mailed an advisory from her Akron office indicating the action was outstanding. “Anglers are hammering sauger," she said. White jig are recommended. Tim Stevens, the division's field officer in Jefferson County, reported that the action has been good around the New Cumberland and Pike Island locks and dams, as well as creek mouths' murky-to-clear-water breaks. Stevens said that in addition to the saugers, some nice walleyes also are hitting.
