Police blotter

A Frederick man was arrested Wednesday on theft charges, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies searched 48-year-old Wilbert P. Price's residence in the 9600 block of Brigadoon Place and found stolen items, including electronic game systems, jewelry and a credit card, according to Cpl. Jennifer Bailey of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.

Price was charged with first-degree burglary, theft of over $500 and destruction of property.

With help from a witness, deputies identified Price as a suspect in a Jan. 11 burglary in the 9600 block of Brigadoon Place. Deputies then obtained a search warrant for Price's residence.

Deputies looked for similarities between that case and a burglary of another home on the same block Jan. 7, in which the electronic equipment was stolen, Bailey said.

Glue Used To Nab Suspected Robber

A fed-up pharmacist, a little creativity and fast police work, resulted in a burglar bust in Sand Springs. The same suspect had broken into the Spoon Drug Store five times and gotten away clean and that's when the pharmacist took some drastic measures. News On 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright reports on how the thief was caught.

Each time the Spoon Drug store got broken into, the pharmacy increased its security, adding motion sensors to the alarm, adding more surveillance cameras, even replacing the broken glass door with tempered glass, but it was something much simpler and cheaper and quite ingenious that finally got the guy caught.

Sand Springs Police say the suspect always broke the front glass, bolted through the store, jumped over the counter and went straight to the same cabinet.

Theft of deputy’s SUV ends in arrest

A shoeless, drunken man allegedly broke out the window of a Pierce County sheriff's deputy's SUV and took off in the idling patrol vehicle Wednesday. The man ditched the Ford Expedition on a dead-end road less than two miles away, stole a bicycle and a pair of shoes and was arrested within an hour after a police dog tracked him down, sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.

"This guy went to the extreme by smashing the window out," he said. "We don't usually have people trying to steal fully marked police cars that are locked."

The man was treated at a local hospital for dog bites and was to be booked in the Pierce County Jail on two counts of first-degree theft and one count each of malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest and drunken driving.

Troyer gave this account of what investigators believe happened:

The deputy, a 15-year veteran of the force whose name was not released, had responded about 7:45 a.m.

Movie Review DB: search results

Darned if the whole house of painted cards didn't come tumbling down on her and her family, all before her 6th birthday. And that's not the whole story. My Kid Could Paint That is a documentary that brings to the fore questions of youth exploitation, celebrity culture, the "con game" that is modern art and media's role in the whole tangled mess. Filmmaker Amir Bar-Lev followed the Olmsteads through their child's rise to fame and into the infamy that followed. The story began in Binghamton, N.Y., when a local newspaper wrote up the precocious little blond whose work was being hung by an attention-happy gallery owner. The New York Times picked up on it. All of a sudden, everybody had to have "a Marla." She was compared to Jackson Pollock. And from the very start, some folks recognized her arrival on "the scene" as the ultimate art-world irony.

Candidates press cases for Round 2

I have always admired your family and the things they stood for. I was in college when that fatal day came and we no longer had our inspiration, your brother. I am disappointed in who you are endorsing. To think about all the times that the Clintons were here for you, and now you just put them aside. I think about it, and I thougt you were above the good old boys. Not so sure about that now. Hillary, a women. Maybe that just does not sit well with you Kennedys. I just don't understand. She is a great lady that certainly helped your party out by staying with Bill. The party owes her more than a senate seat. She should have all of you out there shouting her attributes. It was alright for Bill to be used to get votes for our new governor. He also has a short memory. I will have a hard time voting for either one of you because of this.

Engineering Jobs Become Car Makers' New Export

Vietnam is barely on the map of the global auto industry, but that is about to change.

Nissan Motor Co. sees the southeast Asian nation as a key piece in a strategy to dramatically reduce the cost of developing cars and to compete in the future with rising auto manufacturers from such countries as China and India.
